About Woolpert
Woolpert is an Architecture, Engineering, and Geospatial firm that provides services to federal, state, local, and private clients throughout the nation. I was able to work out of their Dayton office, which has been the company's headquarters for over 100 years. Woolpert's employees are divided amongst ten different markets, ranging from National Security to IT Management Consulting. I was hired to work in the Transportation market which encompasses Park & Recreation Clients, Road & Bridge Design, and Geospatial Aviation. The company is already has a hand in so many different kinds of work, but still has made it a primary goal to double in size within the next ten years.
Writing Samples
During my semester-long internship with Woolpert, I was able to practice many different types of technical writing. The samples below showcase the majority of the documents that I was responsible for producing.
Qualifications are one of the main documents we submit in the transportation department. They aren't associated with any specific contract or job, but are used to get pre-qualified to perform work in a city or county. Both of these qualification packages were created based on a template, then I tailored them to the each specific county's needs.

I produced a lot of resumes because they are fairly simple to format and write. In these resumes I formatted all of the text and graphics so they reflected Woolpert's brand. I wrote the role descriptions–which basically tell the client what task the employee did on the project–as well as the brief project descriptions.
Project descriptions are drafted by looking at the Engineer's project plans, which are usually very heavy in complicated language and measurements. I tried to maintain the integrity of the content, but also write a simplified narrative.
Proposals are the most complicated and the most high-stakes documents that my team and I produced. We use proposals to win work and ultimately make money so they go through a rigorous review process before they are sent out. This writing sample is my draft of a proposal.
